Arctic fox, also called white fox or polar fox is from the Canidae family. It is found throughout the arctic region, usually in the tundra or in the mountains near the sea.

How does the polar fox live
Polar foxlives most of its time in its burrow. It is active at all times of the day and feeds on all available animal or plant species. It often follows polar bears to feed on the remains of its prey.
In summer, it mainly attacks rodents, such as lemmings, but it can also attack birds.
In winter, arctic fox hunting, besides rodents, birds (such as ptarmigan, grouse and puffin) and even reindeer. The white fox is preyed upon by large carnivores, such as polar bears, wolves and wolverines, as well as humans (unfortunately highly coveted for their fur).
The reproduction of the polar fox
It usually breeds once a year, producing a litter of 20 cubs with black fur which are born between April and June (gestation lasts about 52 days). Polar fox cubs are weaned about 45 days after birth and leave the den to live on their own from September or October of the same year.
The young become sexually mature at the age of 9-10 months. Arctic foxes can live up to 10 years in zoos; in the wild, their life expectancy is around 3 years.

The global population of arctic foxes is estimated at several hundred thousand animals. That is why the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) classifies the arctic fox among the species of least concern.
